Expertise Prof. Chung-Yi Li is an epidemiologist who received his PhD degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Prof. Li is now full professor affiliated with Department of Public Heath, College of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan. He has expertise on environmental epidemiology, life course epidemiology, and health service research. Prof. Li started his research career in environmental epidemiology, and was invited to serve as a consultant for The WHO International Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) Project in 2001 in honor of his scientific contributions in the field of EMF and human health. He is now Councilor for the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, Asia and Western Pacific (AWP) Chapter. He also serves as a pioneer in initiating research activities based on Taiwan’s National Health Insurance claims data. His recent research interest was focused on life course epidemiology and health service research in diabetes care. In addition, his recent research projects also cover development of tools for evaluating Environmental Health Literacy (EHL) as well as educational materials for improving public EHL. He published more than 350 peer-reviewed papers over the past 20 years. Several of his research related to the fetal programing theory and inter-generational change in death by suicide was published in International Journal of Epidemiology. Additionally, more than 16 papers of clinical epidemiology that investigated risk factors and assessed prognosis of non-communicable disease (NCDs) have been published in a number of high-ranking journals (Impact Factor >10) including Diabetes Care, Hepatology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, and JAMA Psychiatry. |
